Getting here
From the A1, follow the A684 through Bedale and Leyburn towards Hawes. At Wensley, turn right before The Three Horseshoes and continue through Redmire, Carperby and Woodhall to Askrigg. The cottage is on the left opposite the church.
Surroundings
During your stay, sample home-cooked food and takeaways from the village café, The Bake-well. Try one of Askrigg's three pubs – James Herriot fans may recognise one as the Drovers Arms from the TV series. Don't miss The Heather and Grouse, a delightful shop selling crafts by local Dales artists.
For day trips further afield, Bolton Castle (7 miles) is a highlight, as is the Wensleydale Railway (8 miles) with its scenic journeys through the Dales. The bustling market town of Hawes – famous for its cheese and independent shops – and the impressive Hardraw Force waterfall are both less than 6 miles away.
